- If the override passes, the additional tax revenue will be switched to other accounts the year after it goes into effect.
"There's no shell game going on," Nutting said, noting that various town budgets stay in relative proportion to each other over the years. "It will stay where it's going to stay."
- When the last override failed in 2004, slated cuts never materialized since the town "found" money.
When the measure failed, the town dipped into its "rainy day" fiscal stabilization fund, Nutting said, and now only has $5 million left in the account, and that money is needed for unforeseen issues and emergencies.
