Medway Library = Franklin's Future?

The fiscal problems in Medway have a cost the library the state certification that allows for residents to use the inter-library loan. If you are looking for a book and find it in another town's collection, you can request it. Generally it is delivered to your library within a couple of days, and you get notified to pick it up to read it. This functionality is lost when the state certification is removed.

The state took this action because of the fiscal problems in Medway reduced the operating hours to 20. The state requires a minimum of 32. This is similar to what could happen to Franklin if the override scheduled for May 22 fails.

Medway may get some $250,000 from the state after some action by Rep Vallee.

Read more about this in the Country Gazette article here.

Vote May 22 to keep Franklin's library away from this problem.

I have a real problem having my tax dollars bailing out Medway's refusal to support their own library.

Maybe we can pull off the same trick here in Franklin and let the rest of the state fund our library.

    What a country.
