Given the rapidly developing events in the search for the Marathon bombing suspects, we can take a moment or two to reflect on the natural good life around us.

The residents of Watertown, Newtown, Belmont, Cambridge, Alston/Brighton are being asked to stay indoors. Businesses are being asked not to open. No vehicle traffic in or around that area.

Having been in NY when the first World Trade Center bomb went off in 1993, life changed.

further away from Ground Zero on Sept 11, 2001 still changed life.

And now April 15, life changes again.

Changes, yes... goes on, very important!

Sunday was just so nice a day, the flowers were in such blooming color, taking a few photos and putting together in a quick video slide show was too good to pass on.

RI Flower Show

Dolores and I took in the RI Flower Show down in Providence at the Convention Center. There were good exhibits but not as many flowers as we thought we might see. The vendor section of the main floor vendors seemed to occupy more space than the flower exhibits.

Oddly, a sand sculpture, depicting scenes from Egypt was the best of show for me. I have loved making sand castles and these guys were beyond anything I had ever done.




The flower show is open on Sunday (2/21/09). If you get to go, let me know what you thought was the best of the show.

Karley Rose Fountain Grass - pennisetum

A neighbor had stopped by recently inquiring on the name for the ornamental grass in our front yard. I checked with my broher-in-law who had handled the landscaping for us.

It is called "Karley Rose Fountain Grass". A good sounding name for such a good spray of grass.

The Latin name is "pennisetum".

Now we all know what it is called!

The grass is browning in the background but that doesn't matter. These flowers are seeking the sun light and sharing their color.
