Ze Frank - fun for Friday!

I miss Ze Frank's "The Show" - It was a glorious exploration, everyday something new. Yes some worked better than others but going through each day, it was magic.

I recall back at the first PodCamp Boston, Steve Garfield coordinated a session that produced this video on "Riding the Fire Eagle Danger Day"!

Ze Frank summarizes some of his work in this TED talk. The two best parts are the Ray story and the last piece on "Hey, you're okay"

Of course, you should have fun everyday and not just Friday!

What are you going to do to have fun today?

Personal pizzas

Friday night was a good night for personalized pizzas. The English muffin kind.

Quick and easy to make, they provide an opportunity for real personalization when the tastes in the household vary. Toast the English muffins first. Then be as creative as you'd like: tomato sauce, spices, cheese, pepperoni, or vegetable toppings (onions, peppers, olives, etc.).

This can be a good idea for a kids party. Let them get involved with making their own. This helps to foster good choices a la the Jamie Oliver video I shared here last week.

Put the completed individual pizzas on a cookie sheet, into the over on Broil setting, and watch carefully to remove just when the cheese has melted and started to show browning spots (or to what ever degree of doneness you prefer!)

Add a beverage of your choice and voila, a meal easy to make and easy to eat!

Enjoy!

No Email Fridays - Good or bad idea

Intel is reported to be the latest company to be flirting with "no email Friday
", Note, "flirting" not actually imposing!

I tend to be suspicious of such ultimatums. Legislating an idea is not the best way to get it to work. We (the human race) should have learned that by now. You can go through history and find any number of examples where something legislated had an unintended effect that was far worse than the intent.

It would be better to reward good habits. Reward good behavior. Provide incentives for good behavior.

If your workplace were considering "no email Fridays", what would you do?

Thanks to IWDaily
for the incentive to share my 2 cents!
