I have posted about the sassafras tree leaves before. Hopefully, not so often that you'll turn aside saying, "oh no, not again!"



I do find them fascinating! Three different leaf shapes on the same tree. The leaf can be a right handed mitten, a left handed mitten or a three-fingered happy hand.

Which brings me around to how much different we can be. Just in our dress for the day: formal business ware, casual business, relaxed sporty, pajamas.... the list is almost endless. And that is just for our appearance.

When we get to our attitude, how we greet the next person, you perhaps! the listing is also endless

Let's be good to one another. Let's use our endless capacity for good!

Personal pizzas

Friday night was a good night for personalized pizzas. The English muffin kind.

Quick and easy to make, they provide an opportunity for real personalization when the tastes in the household vary. Toast the English muffins first. Then be as creative as you'd like: tomato sauce, spices, cheese, pepperoni, or vegetable toppings (onions, peppers, olives, etc.).

This can be a good idea for a kids party. Let them get involved with making their own. This helps to foster good choices a la the Jamie Oliver video I shared here last week.

Put the completed individual pizzas on a cookie sheet, into the over on Broil setting, and watch carefully to remove just when the cheese has melted and started to show browning spots (or to what ever degree of doneness you prefer!)

Add a beverage of your choice and voila, a meal easy to make and easy to eat!

How to make a choice

I wrote a sherku about the school choice we have.

How do you pick just one from the four good candidates?

The School Committee is using a rubric. A set of predefined criteria by which each member can score each candidate. How well did each candidate make the grade in the areas of

• interpersonal skills/leadership
• professional knowledge of Accounting/Finance
• budget development and management
• business office administration

You can review the interview for each of the candidates, review their background, and then consider: how would you rate the candidates?

Which one stands out for you?

I'll share my choice and reasoning later this week.

Pumpkin Possiblities

This pumpkin is full of possibilities. What kind of jack-o-lantern will it make?
A happy face, or a sad face, or a scary face?

We have a choice each day to put a smile on our face. Even if we start out sad, or mad, we can change it to a happy smile.

Satisfaction

I could rock with the Stones singing (lip syncing really)

I can't get no satisfaction,

'Cause I try and I try and I try and I try.
I can't get no, I can't get no.

But that really is a cop out. Satisfaction is a choice.
What we do and how we do it, how we feel about what we do... yes, all our choices!

So there is deep satisfaction in getting the house ready for the holidays.
Vacuuming, leaving the tell-tale long rows on the carpet.
It clearly shows, I've been there, done that. Don't step there and spoil it now... :-)

Not like working for some time on a memo getting the thoughts aligned just so that they flow, and then have someone come along and change the whole direction.

Painting, wall-papering... changing the way the room looks from this point forward.
Step back. Admire. Cool. Look at that. The colors do work really well together!

Taking an idea, advancing it. Witnessing that it does have a life of its own.
Co-creation, being cool with another's modifications 'cause they are advancing the idea.
Two heads are better than one, three still better than two... the power of WE.

Satisfaction is a choice. Choose wisely.
