One of my birthday presents was an amaryllis bulb kit. Some of you may recall that the kit I received last year ended up a dud. I am hopeful that this years will be a return to blooming glory.
I'll take a daily photo to mark the progress and development. This is what it looked like yesterday morning.
This kit did not come with enough potting soil so I added some more this morning and that will show up in tomorrow's photo.

inside #the5 Friday - frame
Good morning, time to go inside #the5 today.
Before we get into #the5, for those who may not be aware of what #the5 is Christopher S Penn started this earlier this year (actually Dec 2009) when he wrote this. I have long been sharing items like this (recall the Hitchhiker's Guide now in hibernation). The same idea has now adapted to use Twitter. Thanks Chris!
As I like to add value to what I do, I started Twitter Bingo. Do #the5, then at the end of the day, see who else has come up with the same item. Or as a recent add to this, see who has retweeted it which is almost the same thing.
Sharing, making new connections, this is life long learning!

"The data is bad, and the studies are wrong" http://bit.ly/f9jqxl always important to know the details behind the data #the5The devil is in the details. You need to know what the numbers are and how they are being used.
An incredibly simple way to test your calls to action http://bit.ly/gYvtbO insights on the instant preview! #the5Do you have a call to action on your website, blog? Even if it is a subscribe button, where is it place?

Make Your Own Frame http://bit.ly/fo3CSy me: what is your frame of mind this Friday? a good question for #the5The theme running through these posts/links today that caught my eye and now you are reading about is "frame". What is the frame of reference for the data? What is your frame of reference? The first step is to realize that it can color your view of the world. The second step is if the color isn't what you want, you can change your frame of reference. It is your choice.

Thankfulness and a wish
There is so much to be thankful for amidst these days.
Family members to be proud of doing good things.
A growing host of connections and network buddies, also doing good things.
A wish, a birthday wish. Actually three.
First - good health for all, especially those of the greatest generation. In particular, our fathers, who have been our guides. They are struggling with a myriad of health issues as they advance in age.
Second - for those struggling in these economic times, the 99's and others still looking for valid work. May they find the hope and support to continue their search.
Third - take a moment today to support your local food pantry or food bank. They are different operations but have one goal to provide necessary food for those in need. The Franklin Food Pantry has a Google Checkout button to enable an easy monetary donation. Scroll all the way down to the base of the home page to find it. http://franklinfoodpantry.org/
Note: I am on the Board of Directors for the Food Pantry and will be revising the website to make it easier to use for those we serve as well as those who would like to help (like you).

Inside #the5 Wednesday - juggling
Good morning, time for #the5 today
Is there a summary word for today? We move from a social media and the workforce, to a new report on the workforce, to a free community on Facebook, to face time, to an app for music. Work force, face time, music... finding the right balance, juggling your priorities, managing your time... maybe juggling is the best one for today. I like the play aspects of it.

Video: Social Media and the Workplace - Explained by @CommonCraft http://bit.ly/eGsr3s #the5Common Craft always does a wonderful job with their explanations. I would like to see them tackle this topic from the viewpoint of the worker inside the firewall. There is much greyness still in that arena that hopefully will get some resolution some day, sooner rather than later.
Job Search Jam Sessions: "a workforce with the right mix of skills"shar.es/Xof5v a new report by Fed Res Bank #the5The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston just published this report. I haven't read the details just the summary and it looks to be worth the read. Let me know what you think as you read this too!
Check out the Zoetica Salon, a free community for npo's on @kanter's Facebook page ow.ly/3hUYCBeth Kanter is hosting this free community for non-profits on her Facebook page. I like the idea and can potentially reuse it.
Why Face Time is So Important to Your Job Search http://bit.ly/fm2aw0 "Find ways to get out and meet people in person" #the5LinkedIn makes it easy to keep up with someone around the world, 24 hours a day but nothing beats the value of face time.
Now Android Has Wireless Music Sync, So When Will Apple Follow? (GOOG, AAPL) http://read.bi/f0pwTN #the5And on the lighter side, music is a good release, good for refreshing the spirit. I'll need to explore this app with my Droid phone.
