These are considerations; one might provide a disclaimer that the mileage on these suggestions may vary. You need to spend time to figure out what you want to do. Talk with anyone. Explain yourself. The more you talk about what you want and where you want to go, the more you will get practice saying it so it will sound natural for you. You will also open yourself up to feedback. Take it all in. Some will be very useful, some you'll keep for reference.
