Wednesday morning brought the discovery of thousands of frozen earthworms. They had risen from their ground homes during the warm spring rain on Tuesday. As evening fell, the rain turned to sleet and ice before turning to snow.

This phenomena appeared in driveways in Franklin and other parts of MA west of the i495 beltway. What the long term effects of this will have on the lawn conditions remains to be seen.
