"Parents may be able to mitigate"
CONCLUSIONS. This is the first study to demonstrate a prospectivelink between exposure to sexual content on television and theexperience of a pregnancy before the age of 20. Limiting adolescentexposure to the sexual content on television and balancing portrayalsof sex in the media with information about possible negativeconsequences might reduce the risk of teen pregnancy. Parentsmay be able to mitigate the influence of this sexual contentby viewing with their children and discussing these depictionsof sex.
