Inside #the5 Monday - analysis

Good morning, time for #the5

3 Advanced Web Analytics Visitor Segments: Non-Flirts, Social, Long Tail  more great tips on analytics @
Avanash has another great step by step outline for doing some great analytic work!

Have you used Google Labs Follow Finder for Twitter  me: need to play with this, looks cool enough 4
Found this via @Shashib. A quick look doesn't seem to net out from the results those that you also already follow. But since they are apparently doing this with search results, not sure how they could. They did provide some interesting folks to consider following.

NSFW: most used curse words in history?  me: @ has an interesting word analysis for
Scott Berkun does some word analysis on the NSFW words. The two charts are interesting to view.

Google Debuts “This Site May Be Compromised” Warning  me: real help on the security of a site
This is a welcome addition to search results. If the site has been compromised, the warning will appear next to the results. Forewarned is forearmed!

The Great Recession (video)  economist at the Boston Federal Reserve Bank has some insights on the recession
Chris Foote, Senior Economist and Policy Advisor at the Boston Federal Reserve Bank, shares his insights on the Great Recession in a very accessible way. Well worth watching. The link takes you to the first of the series of segments of his talk. It will automatically move from one to the other as one completes, at least based upon my experience.

Yes, this will take a little time but the economy is not easily understood, it is a complex weave. Chris does well to explain the influences. No silver bullet here but lots of great information.

So how do we summarize today's #the5? All of these finds point to some analysis of data. What data are you looking at? What do you see?

What have you learned that you want to share?
